Czech hockey player Chikhar is recognized as the most valuable player of the World Youth Championship

Czech national team forward Wojciech Cichar was awarded the title of the most valuable player of the World Youth Hockey Championship among athletes under the age of 20, which ended in the United States. This was announced on January 6 on the website of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

18-year-old Chikhar became the top scorer of the Czech national team, scoring 12 points — four goals and eight assists.

The IIHF leadership also noted the best players in their roles. They recognized Swedish goalkeeper Lowe Herenstam, Czech national team defender Adam Jiricek and Swedish striker Anton Frondell.

The symbolic national team of the championship included Herenstam, defenders Zane Parekh (Canada) and Thomas Galvas from the Czech Republic, as well as forwards Mikael Haga (Canada), Frondell and Chikhar.

On Tuesday, the Czech national team lost to the Swedish team with a score of 2:4 in the final of the tournament. The competition was held in St. Paul (Minnesota, USA). In the match for the third place of the tournament, the Canadian national team beat Finland with a score of 6:3.
