- The Russian Orthodox Church told about the preparation of the festive table at Christmas
The festive table at Christmas should be organized according to your capabilities and preferences, while the main thing at the table will always be communication, not food. This was announced on January 6 by Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Charity and Social Service of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
"Before Christmas, the Church urges us to observe fasting. On New Year's Eve, you can arrange a lenten meal. On Christmas Day, according to the rules, the fast ends, and you can taste something fast, not fast. Everyone organizes the festive table according to their income and preferences. But you shouldn't get carried away with culinary thoughts: the most important thing at the festive table is not the dishes, but the people, our communication," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
