Russian President Vladimir Putin said that as a child he wanted to become a scout, and his dream came true. He announced this on January 5 in a conversation with Igor Stepanenko, a seven-year-old participant in the Christmas Tree of Desires campaign.

"I became an employee of the foreign intelligence service of our country, I worked for almost 20 years in foreign intelligence. He worked as a scout. So, you see, my dream in this sense has completely come true," Putin said.

The Head of State noted that as a child he also had desires to become a sailor and pilot, but after reading books and watching movies, he wanted to become a scout.

Putin added that he was striving for his goal, and wished the boy to achieve his goals, as it gives "a very good, healthy sense of achievement."

On the same day, Putin spoke by phone with seven-year-old Igor Stepanenko, whose dream was fulfilled as part of the "Wish Tree" campaign. The boy visited the scientific research vessel Vityaz and the submarine B-413, examined the legendary deep-sea apparatus Mir-1 and the largest osteological exhibit of the museum — the skeleton of a sperm whale. In addition, a three-day excursion program has been organized in Kaliningrad for Igor and his family.
