Putin instructed to consider increasing sick leave for child care
Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to consider extending the period of disability benefits for caring for a sick child in large families. The list of instructions approved by the Russian leader following the meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects is posted on the Kremlin's website.
"Taking into account the previously given instructions, the Government of the Russian Federation <...> should submit proposals <...> to establish the possibility of extending the period of payment of temporary disability benefits when caring for a sick child in large families," the document says.
In addition, Putin instructed to prepare measures for the implementation of additional measures aimed at reducing the shortage of personnel and increasing the mobility of labor resources.
Nikita Chaplin, a member of the Budget and Taxes Committee, announced on January 5 that a significant increase in maximum maternity payments is planned in Russia in 2026, which may reach 1.3 million rubles. The amount of payments depends on the length of the vacation and a number of factors, Chaplin recalled. The standard amount for a normal birth will be 955,836 rubles, for complications — 1,065,074 rubles, and for the birth of two or more children — 1,324,515 rubles.
