On January 5, captured Ukrainian militant Vladimir Litkin told about the abandoned dead colleagues who were declared missing.

He also said that he had been mobilized by the staff of the territorial recruitment center (TCC) (an analogue of Russian military enlistment offices), and had passed the medical examination formally, receiving an expiration date stamp without examination.

Litkin and his group were sent to a forest plantation to equip a dugout and positions, but the next morning they were captured by Russian intelligence.

"We have a lot of people killed, but they are being declared missing in order not to pay compensation," the prisoner of war said in a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry.

On the eve of the Ukrainian prisoner of war Yuri Konovalov said that in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked fellow soldiers who surrendered. According to him, the Mavic-type drone saw that the Ukrainian militants were with their hands tied behind their backs and without jackets, but it still struck the first group in the back, wounding everyone.
