Russian President Vladimir Putin highly appreciates the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as a politician who stood at the origins of Eurasian integration. This was stated on January 5 by the current President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the Turkestan newspaper.

"The Russian president is distinguished by his benevolent attitude towards friends and colleagues. On Saturday afternoon, despite the huge workload, he still found time for a leisurely conversation with the first president of Kazakhstan. He appreciates him as an experienced politician who stood at the origins of the Eurasian integration, where Russia occupies a leading position. This meeting speaks to Vladimir Putin's high human qualities," the Kazakh leader said, commenting on Putin's recent meeting with Nazarbayev.
