The number of drones shot down on approach to Moscow has increased to 40
The Air Defense Forces shot down another drone flying to Moscow. Their total number has reached 40. This was announced on January 4 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
"Another drone flying to Moscow has been destroyed," Sobyanin wrote on the MAX messenger.
He also clarified that specialists are working at the crash site of the UAV. Prior to that, the mayor also reported the destruction of three UAVs on approach to Moscow.
On the same day, air defense systems shot down 253 Ukrainian drones over the regions of Russia. The largest number of drones was destroyed in the skies over the Bryansk region — 86 units. The Belgorod region is in second place, where 53 drones were shot down. 39 aircraft were intercepted by air defense systems over the Moscow region. The strikes also reverberated over the Kaluga region, where 27 drones were shot down, and the Kursk region with 14 destroyed vehicles. Eight drones were shot down over the Ryazan and Tula regions.
The Vladimir, Volgograd and Lipetsk regions lost three drones each. The same number was shot down over the Orel and Rostov regions. Two drones were destroyed over the Voronezh Region, and one over the Smolensk Region.
