- The film "Pinocchio" has collected more than 600 million rubles in two days of distribution.
A new film about the adventures of Pinocchio, created with the participation of the National Media Group (NMG), has collected almost 650 million rubles, and this is in just two days of distribution. The interest of the audience turned out to be so high that cinemas have to introduce additional sessions. The film was released right on the occasion of the half-century anniversary of the premiere of the Soviet film, and there is no way to resist comparisons. Maxim Prikhod, a correspondent for Izvestia, told how the characters have transformed and what has remained unchanged.
On January 1, 1976, these characters appeared on TV and made all Soviet children fall in love with them. Every Soviet schoolboy dreamed of being in the place of a charming, hooligan boy who gets away with everything, and for good reason. Pinocchio himself, but in real life Dmitry Iosifov still remembers that then he naturally fell into a fairy tale.
"There really was some kind of fairy tale born inside this, some kind of amazing atmosphere because of the cast, because of the absolutely mischievous director and, most likely, also because of the amazing music of Rybnikov," said Dmitry, the actor, director, performer of the role of Pinocchio in the film "The Adventures of Pinocchio." Joseph.
And Rybnikov's magical music sounds in a new arrangement today, half a century later, a new "Pinocchio" was released on the screens.
"The audience in the hall is divided into two categories: for some it is a long—awaited meeting, for others it is a first acquaintance," the correspondent said.
In the new film, the storylines are developed, and the characters, while remaining recognizable, become deeper and more complex. And Karabas-Barabas is no longer just a villain, but a tragic and multifaceted character.
"There was and still is an unrealized artist in it, and what could be more difficult than an unrealized artist?" — said the producer, the performer of the role of Karabas-Barabas in the film "Pinocchio" Fyodor Bondarchuk.
Charming crooks Alice and Basilio are no longer a cat or a fox.
"Moustaches, of course, tattoos of some kind sometimes flash, associated with cats. He's such a cat inside, but he's a human being," explained Alexander Petrov, who plays Basilio.
But the most important thing is that Pinocchio used to be a real boy, but today he is a computer character created in such a way that he cannot be distinguished from a living one.
"In this studio, Pinocchio becomes like himself, this is literally the very place where the fairy tale comes to life," the correspondent emphasized.
Moreover, the tools of professionals include not only powerful computers and modern software.
"A mirror is the main attribute of an animator, we constantly look into it to check emotions," explained 3D animator Alexander Belov.
Earlier, on December 23, 2025, analysts at the Bulletin of the Film Distributor and the Vanta Group company said that the Pinocchio film tale became the leader of polls on the most anticipated films for the New Year. The rate of interest in the feed increased from 28 to 57 points. Vadim Smirnov, General Director of NMG Film Distribution, told Izvestia that the audience's love for Pinocchio will last for many years.
