More than 20 people suffered burns to about 60% of their bodies during an explosion and fire at the Constellation bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland. This was announced on January 2 by the chief physician of the Morzh hospital, Vassim Rafful.

"13 adults and eight minors were brought in with burns, and more than 60% of their body surface was burned," RTS quoted him as saying.

Rafful also noted that due to the panic and stampede during the incident, the victims, in addition to burns, could have additional injuries, including fractures, soft tissue injuries and internal bleeding. He added that such skin lesions will require long-term treatment.

The explosion and fire at the ski resort were reported on January 1. According to the law enforcement agencies, the incident does not qualify as a terrorist act. Those who died in the event of a fire due to a firecracker thrown into the suspended ceiling were trapped in the basement hall where the event was taking place. About 40 people were killed and 115 injured as a result of the fire. The Russian Embassy in Switzerland also informed that it had not received any information about the injured Russians after the incident.

Samuel Rapp, an eyewitness to the tragedy, also said that a powerful explosion in a bar on New Year's Eve caused panic and stampede. Swiss President Guy Parmelin said the incident was one of the worst tragedies in the country's history.
