In Russia, there is a tendency to consciously abandon Anglicisms in public and everyday communication. Nikita Gusev, rector of the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language, announced this on December 31.

"Indeed, there is a tendency in the Russian-speaking space towards a more conscious and responsible use of vocabulary. In public communication, in media materials, official speeches, and educational resources, there is a conscious effort to replace previously common Anglicisms with their Russian—language counterparts," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that various Anglicisms had disappeared from the texts, and a speaker was now speaking at conferences instead of a speaker. In addition, Gusev added that words that have no exact analogues in Russian continue to be used in speech. The rector gave an example of the word messenger, which is a universal name.

Gusev reported on December 30 that the nouns "neural network", "AI" (artificial intelligence), "industrial", "algorithms", "technologies" and "data" became the most popular in 2025. He added that words related to the socio-political and cultural agenda also occupy a significant place. Among them are "Intervision", "negotiations", "summit", "Alaska", "diplomacy", which reflect current events and changes in the world.
