The scammers started using the job search topic to steal money
Experts of the Informzashita holding reported an increase in fraud related to job search. According to their data, in 2025, attackers are increasingly using fictitious jobs to establish contact, gain trust and then steal money or personal data, it was reported on Tuesday, December 30.
Experts noted that the growth of such schemes is associated with the active transition of applicants online to ad sites, social networks and messengers, where moderation is minimal. The victims are mostly people who respond to offers of remote work without experience requirements, as well as vacancies in shipping and logistics under the guise of well-known brands. Schemes disguised as financial or administrative activities that actually involve applicants in illegal transactions are less common, according to the results of the study.
Pavel Kovalenko, director of the Informzashita Anti-fraud center, in an interview with Lenta.Ru explained that fake vacancies copy real hiring processes — with questionnaires, test tasks and "corporate" chats, which creates the illusion of legitimacy and prevents the threat from being recognized in time.
The consequences of deception can go far beyond a one-time loss of money: transferred documents and bank data are often used to obtain loans and participate in criminal schemes. To reduce risks, citizens are advised to be critical of promises of quick income, check employers, not share personal information in advance, and avoid offers with prepayment or participation in financial transactions.
Earlier on December 30, the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Russian Interior Ministry warned citizens that fraudsters had started sending false messages in messengers about New Year's payments from the state.
