Anatoly Korolev, author of the novels "Gogol's Head" and "Being Bosch," has died.

Anatoly Korolev, the Russian writer, author of the novels "Gogol's Head", "Being Bosch" and "The Human Tongue", died at the age of 80. This was announced on December 29 by the press service of Perm State National Research University.

"Anatoly Korolev, one of the most significant writers of the second half of the twentieth century, lecturer at the Literary Institute, honorary professor at Perm University, has passed away," the educational institution's website says.

The university named Korolev one of the most prominent representatives of Russian literature in the second half of the 20th century.

Among the writer's awards are the USSR State Film Committee Award for the best screenplay for the film "Every Hunter Wants to Know Where the Pheasant is Sitting" (1976), as well as the Znamya magazine award for the novel "Eron" (1994). In 2000, the writer was awarded the Moscow —Penne International Literary Prize for the novel "Gogol's Head". His novel "Being Bosch" also won him the Znamya Magazine Award (2004) and the Moscow Government Award (2006).,
