On December 30, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over reports of an attack by Kiev on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Ongoing diplomatic efforts are the most effective way to end the fighting and achieve peace. We urge all interested parties to focus on these efforts," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Modi also called on the Russian and Ukrainian sides to avoid any actions that could undermine efforts to achieve peace.

The day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had attempted a drone attack on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region. He noted that Russia's negotiating position would be reviewed in light of Kiev's attempt to attack the residence of the Russian president.

On the same day, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that US President Donald Trump was shocked to learn about the attack on Putin's residence during telephone conversations with him. According to an aide to the Russian president, Putin stressed during the conversation that such actions would not be left without a serious response, and said that the Russian Federation's position on a number of previously reached agreements would be reviewed.
