In the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stopped the illegal trafficking of gold and silver

The Investigative Department of the Trans-Baikal Linear Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has completed the investigation of the case against members of a criminal group involved in the illegal trafficking of precious metals. This was announced on December 29 by the official representative of the department Irina Volk in her Telegram channel.

"Fourteen Russian citizens and two foreigners are accused of committing crimes under Articles 210, 30 and 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in a criminal group, attempted crime, trafficking in precious metals)," the publication says.

According to investigators, the criminal community bought illegally mined gold and silver in the Trans-Baikal Territory, Amur Region, Jewish Autonomous Region and the Republic of Tuva, melted precious metals into ingots and illegally moved abroad.

During the searches, more than 32 kg of chemically pure gold and silver worth about 114 million rubles were seized from illicit trafficking. The established amount of precious metals illegally exported abroad amounted to over 106 kg, their value is estimated at 398 million rubles.

Volk noted that illegal activities were suppressed by employees of the Department of Economic security and Anti-corruption of the Zabaikalsky Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Transport and the Border Department of the FSB of Russia in the Trans-Baikal Territory with the support of the Russian National Guard.

Gold mine: precious metals will be extracted from production waste

Their total cost may exceed 1 trillion rubles — pilot projects are planned to be launched in four regions.

Earlier, on December 9, it was reported that law enforcement officers detained those involved in the illegal trafficking of precious metals in the Magadan region. It is noted that the defendants in the Magadan region were engaged in the illegal acquisition and transportation of precious metals on a large scale to other regions of Russia.
