A criminal case has been opened in Yakutia on the provision of unsafe services and the death of people. This was announced on December 27 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two persons by negligence) on the fact of a car failure with people on the Lena River," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that at the moment the necessary investigative actions are being carried out, and criminologists and staff of operational services continue to work at the scene of the incident.

On the same day in Yakutsk, a car fell through the ice on the Lena River, there were eight people in the cabin, including one child. Five were able to get out, three remained in the car. The incident happened on the way to the ice in an unauthorized place, in the area of sewage discharge into the Lena River channel. Later it became known that rescuers took the car out of the water, and the body of a child was found in it.
