Putin congratulated the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the Day of the Rescuer

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, December 27, recorded a video message to the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Rescuer.

"This is a professional holiday for those who are always on duty and ready to help people, to respond promptly and effectively to the most difficult emergency situation. And of course, today we honor the veterans of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and other departments who laid down the glorious and noble traditions of rescuers," the president noted.

He stressed that the technical equipment and the level of training of the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are growing every year. In addition, the unique experience and authority of one of the most effective rescue structures in the world is being developed. And in a number of key areas, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is the most reputable rescue agency.

So, over the past time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has conducted more than 600 search and rescue and humanitarian operations abroad alone. At the same time, the main resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are aimed at ensuring the safety of Russian citizens.

"Over these 35 years, the number of lives you have saved is literally in the hundreds of thousands. Rescuers are the first where determination, courage and professional skills need to be shown: in the rubble of destroyed buildings, at the scene of a serious accident. They climb mountains, descend into the depths of mines, land from the air, evacuate people from hard—to-reach areas of taiga massifs, settlements flooded by floods," Putin continued.

The Head of State pointed out that the department has modern technology and equipment. Programs with elements of artificial intelligence (AI) are also being introduced into its work. Increased attention is being paid to the issue of disaster prevention, including through the use of space monitoring tools.

"I would like to mention separately the medical workers and psychologists who work in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Their special competencies are sometimes simply irreplaceable. And of course, I ask you to convey my sincere gratitude to the staff who are solving the most difficult tasks in the conditions of a special military operation in the liberated and border territories," he said.

Putin expressed pride in such qualities of the EMERCOM staff as fearlessness and willingness to risk their own lives in the name of others. New generations of rescuers are growing up with examples of dedication and professionalism, and they will be worthy of this high recognition, the president expressed confidence.

"Happy holidays to you, dear friends! And of course, Happy New Year! I wish you, your family and friends good health and success!" the Head of state concluded his address.
