The opening of the Representative Center for Accounting and Auditing of Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in Kazan forms an important basis for the development of the Islamic finance industry. This was announced on December 26 by the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, at a round table in Kazan.

"We are grateful to the management of AAOIFI and all partners for their trust and constructive cooperation. I am confident that the opening of the representative center will be an important step in strengthening economic cooperation, expanding investment opportunities and developing sustainable financial institutions in the CIS," Minnikhanov's press service quoted him as saying.

He stressed that Tatarstan, as a modern business and intellectual center with rich experience in international dialogue, scientific and educational cooperation, provides favorable conditions for the work of the representative office.

"The establishment of a representative office in Kazan provides more opportunities for professional dialogue, both directly with AAOIFI and with members of this organization," said Elvira Nabiullina, Chairman of the Bank of Russia, who joined the participants of the round table via video link.
