Europe has expressed concern about French President Emmanuel Macron's desire to resume dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. This was reported on December 25 by the newspaper Al Khaleej.

"It is in the interests of the Europeans and Ukrainians to find a framework for starting an official discussion with Russia, otherwise we will continue to discuss issues among ourselves," Macron is quoted as saying in the publication.
