Starting from January 2, parking rates on a number of streets will be adjusted in Moscow, the Deptrans Moscow Telegram channel reported.

Parking will become cheaper at 12 sites. The tariff will be reduced because the average occupancy of parking spaces in these zones is less than 50%. So, parking will become cheaper on Mikhail Yakushin Street, Igor Chislenko Street, in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th passageways of Maryina Grove.

On the vast majority of streets (89%) with paid parking, fares will remain the same. For 10.5% of sites where 80-90% of places are consistently occupied, the cost will be adjusted within the framework of the current tariff schedule.

"The tariff adjustment will free up the busiest parking lots, which will reduce the excess traffic generated by cars whose drivers are looking for empty spaces. Local residents with a residence permit will receive even greater priority and will be able to find parking faster, as the turnover of parking spaces will be higher — parking lots will be released faster," the message says.

According to Sultan Zhankaziev, a professor at Moscow Automobile and Road Engineering State Technical University, "during the New Year period, it is especially noticeable that parking on some streets has already stopped coping with the flow of people who want to." "It is possible and necessary to change the cost where the current tariff stops coping. And it's not just about increasing the price — if the parking lot is empty, then you can reduce the cost there. This is a normal global practice," the expert said.

Starting on January 2, the cost of travel along the MSD will be indexed by 3 rubles during critically busy hours — it will amount to 13 rubles per section. The rest of the time: on weekdays from 20:00 to 07:00 and from 11:00 to 16:00, as well as on weekends and holidays, travel will remain free. The transit fare (950 rubles) does not change. The changes will allow you to continue making the trip along the MDR fast, comfortable and predictable in time.
