Terracotta warriors from China will be brought to Moscow in 2026
The exhibition "Terracotta Warriors: the Legacy of the First Emperor" will be presented at the State Historical Museum (GIM) in 2026. This was reported in the press service of the Moscow Department of Culture on Thursday, December 25.
"Following joint negotiations with representatives of the PRC and the GIM, the Moscow Department of Culture will organize the transportation of unique figures and the organization of an exhibition at the GIM site in October 2026, together with specialists from China. The exhibition is dedicated to one of the main archaeological wonders of the world — the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang," the Moscow City News Agency quotes the message.
Visitors will also see weapons, ancient jewelry and household items from the Qin and Han eras (3rd century BC — 3rd century AD). In addition, the exhibition will be complemented by lectures, guided tours and master classes on ancient Chinese history and art, according to the website. kp.ru .
The terracotta army was last exhibited in Russia at the State Historical Museum in 2008, IA Regnum reports.
Earlier, on May 31, in China, a tourist damaged the figures of two ancient clay warriors of the ancient Terracotta army. He climbed over the fence and jumped into a pit up to 5.4 m deep to the figures of soldiers in the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The man "pushed and pulled" the clay warriors, as a result of which two of them were injured.
