Likhachev confirmed the launch of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey in 2026
The physical launch of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey is scheduled for 2026. This was announced on December 25 by Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation.
"We are aiming for next year," Likhachev is quoted as saying by TASS.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on December 12 that Turkey was waiting for the timely commissioning of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, and the launch of the first reactor was already scheduled for 2026.
On September 25, Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Zafer Demirjan announced that the full launch of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which is being built with the participation of Rosatom, is scheduled for 2028. It was noted that when the full operation of the NPP begins, it will provide 10% of all electricity in Turkey.
