About 15 million Russians may be left without access to microloans.
About 15 million Russians may lose the opportunity to receive microloans from January 1, 2026 due to the planned ban on microfinance organizations using their own revenue estimation models. This was reported on December 25 by the newspaper Vedomosti with reference to a letter from the head of the NSFR Andrei Emelin.
The changes will affect the issuance of loans in the amount of up to 50 thousand rubles. According to Emelin, the denial of access to official loans may lead to an increase in demand for the services of illegal lenders.
