Artur Zarkhi, CEO of the Robots Corporation, spoke about the main problem of Russian robotics.

While striving to become one of the world leaders in industrial robotics, the main challenge for Russian enterprises remains the shortage of qualified engineers, which can slow down the technological breakthrough.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, December 24, the specialist noted that despite the positive dynamics and government support measures, effective automation remains difficult without a sufficient number of specialists. According to him, robotics in Russia is developing unevenly and the country is still inferior to the world leaders in terms of robot density, but over the past two or three years, more and more companies have begun to introduce technologies, primarily in the automotive and metalworking industries, where robots compensate for the shortage of personnel.

He explained that the robot park is based on industrial manipulators for welding, painting and machine tool maintenance, while collaborative robots are also being actively introduced. Traditional industrial regions remain the leaders in the number of robots.

The expert cited the lack of qualified engineers and inflated expectations of a quick payback as key problems, since the economic effect usually appears in two to three years. At the same time, government support measures, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, play an important role, and current conditions stimulate the development of their own Russian solutions.

On December 24, VTsIOM reported on the attitude of Russians towards robots. According to Valery Fedorov, Director General of the VTsIOM Analytical Center, Russians are not afraid that they will be replaced by robots.

On December 19, the Ministry of Investments of the Moscow Region announced that the region had become the leader among Russian regions in terms of the number of robots working at industrial enterprises. Over 1,9 thousand industrial robots are used in enterprises, according to 360.ru .
