Ingosstrakh experts counted Russians with migraines

Approximately 40% of Russians' visits to a neurologist are related to headaches. These conclusions were reached by Ingosstrakh experts based on the results of a joint study with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Ingosstrakh press service

It turned out that women (18%) are more likely to experience headaches and migraines than men (10%). In Khabarovsk, Tolyatti and Vladivostok, the vast majority of respondents indicated that they do not experience migraines — 81% each. In Orenburg, 24% of respondents reported regular or periodic headaches and migraine attacks, while in Penza and Yaroslavl, 18% each.

Russians cite physiological features and hormonal fluctuations as the main cause of headaches and migraines — 56.5% of survey participants noted this factor. Mental and emotional stress and stress are in second place (12.5%). In addition, 8.7% of respondents noted that changes in atmospheric pressure and weather changes cause migraines, while 7.8% of respondents have sleep deprivation, fatigue, hunger and air travel as causes of headaches.

As for the effect of migraines on the quality of life, 45.1% indicated that they interfere with their usual lifestyle, but not too much. At the same time, 2.4% of respondents reported that seizures significantly complicate their daily lifestyle.

Traditional medicine is still in demand in the fight against headaches. Russians most often use mint and chamomile tea to relieve their condition (59.8%). At the same time, 8.9% of those suffering from headaches have special remedies for migraines in their home medicine cabinet.
