The cause of the crash in Turkey of the Falcon 50 aircraft carrying members of the delegation of the Libyan Army General Staff was a technical malfunction, the version of sabotage has been ruled out. This was reported on December 23 by Al Jazeera TV channel, citing Turkish officials.
"The initial results of the investigation exclude any sabotage that led to the downing of the plane of the Chief of Staff of the Libyan army. The main reason is a technical malfunction," the source said.
It is noted that at the time of the crash, the chief of the Libyan General Staff, Mohammed al-Haddad, four members of his entourage and three crew members were on board. Before the crash, the aircraft's crew requested permission for an emergency landing due to an electrical malfunction, but later communication with the aircraft was interrupted.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the aircraft had disappeared from radar over Ankara. After the loss of the signal, the airspace over the city was closed. Later it became known that the plane had crashed. Eyewitnesses reported reports of a strong explosion near Esenboga Airport.
Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the Turkish authorities had notified Libya of the deaths of all passengers on board the crashed plane. After the incident, the Turkish Prosecutor General's Office launched an investigation.
