Former US President George W. Bush told Russian President Vladimir Putin that he considers Russia to be a part of the West, not an enemy. This follows from the protocols of the American government published by the National Security Archive research organization.
"Russia is part of the West, not its enemy,— Bush noted at a meeting with Putin in Slovenia in June 2001.
In addition, the former head of the White House called that meeting with the Russian leader the most important during his trip. He also assured the Russian president that there was no risk of a clash between Russia and the United States.
