British customs seized almost 240,000 fake Labuba toys
British customs seized almost 240,000 fake Labuba toys before Christmas. This was announced on December 23 on the official website of the British government.
"Preventing cheap fake toys from being imported into the UK is not an attempt to disrupt Christmas entertainment. Serious organized criminals use profits from the sale of dangerous counterfeit goods to finance their criminal activities, exploiting parents and families," said Adam Chatfield, deputy director of the Border Guard Service.
The message also states that customs officials have increased the inspection of shipments before Christmas, as three quarters of counterfeit toys have not passed safety checks.
In addition to fake Labubu toys, the border guard service seized a number of counterfeit toys and electrical goods.
A shipment of fake Labuba toys worth more than $500,000 was seized at Seattle airport in the United States. It is specified that the toys were seized on August 26. This happened as a result of a police inspection of the Labuba supply, during which they found violations of federal law. It prohibits illegal importation and profit-making through the use of other people's intellectual property rights.
