WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia) is ready to fight for its audience in Russia. This was announced on December 23 by a representative of the messenger in an interview with the Reuters news agency.

"WhatsApp is deeply rooted in every community. <...> We are determined to fight for our users [in Russia]," he said.

The press service of Roskomnadzor (RCN) reported on December 22 that WhatsApp continues to violate Russian law. The ministry recalled that if the violation of Russian legislation by the messenger continues, the introduction of restrictions will continue, and if the requirements are not met, the platform will be completely blocked.

On November 22, Sergei Boyarsky, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, noted that restrictions against foreign messengers in Russia had led to a significant reduction in fraud. According to him, the measures taken against WhatsApp and Telegram proved to be absolutely correct and timely.
