Five people died as a result of an emergency at a coal mine in China
Five people died as a result of a water break at a coal mine in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang, bordering Russia. This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency on December 21.
The incident occurred at about 04:30 (23:30 Moscow time), at the Datonggou mine of the Fengyuan mining company in Jixi city. According to local authorities, the workers were trapped underground after the water burst.
A joint headquarters was established to conduct search and rescue operations. Work is currently underway, the Propaganda Department of the City Committee of the Communist Party of China said.
More than 30 people died as a result of the collapse of a copper mine site in the south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on November 16. According to the journalist, access to the site was closed due to heavy rains and the risk of a landslide, but the workers ignored the ban and went down into the mine.
