Currently, the situation on the border of Belarus and Lithuania is assessed as good and controlled. This was announced to Izvestia on December 21 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov.

"Good, controlled," he replied to a question about the situation on the border.

He also stressed the importance of the EAEU's international positioning, especially in the context of strengthening the organization. Ryzhenkov noted that the signing of agreements with other states contributes not only to the strengthening of Belarus, but also of its allies.

According to the diplomat, two agreements have already been signed during the presidency of Belarus, and a third will be signed in the near future, which is a significant success.

Ryzhenkov accused Lithuania of provocation on the Belarusian border on December 7. He clarified that information has emerged that the EU is ready to allocate more than €6 billion to Lithuania, but this money will not be used to develop infrastructure or social projects, but to create barriers and weapons. However, in his opinion, the Lithuanian military does not know how to use these funds effectively.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry protested to Lithuania on December 1 in connection with the violation of airspace by a Lithuanian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Ministry regarded the border violation as a provocation by Lithuania directed against Minsk and Warsaw.

Later, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country was ready for negotiations with Lithuania on problematic issues at the level of diplomats, border guards and prime ministers.
