Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after the decision of the European Union to provide a loan to Ukraine under the guarantees of the union's budget, rather than Russian assets, said that if Russia sued for the confiscation of its frozen funds, the EU would have to return twice as much.

"There is a risk of an almost inevitable consequence that if the Russians file a lawsuit and demand that this amount be returned by legitimate means, and in the meantime we have transferred it to the Ukrainians, then someone will have to return this money," Orban told reporters on Friday, December 19.
