- Hegseth attributed excess weight and "stupidity" to an obstacle to military recruitment in the United States
Many young Americans who want to qualify for military service will not be able to do so because they have problems with excess weight or lack of mental abilities. This was announced on December 18 by the head of the US military Pete Hegseth.
"Too many of our young people are either too fat or too stupid. <...> Or they have criminal records or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. — Ed.), and all these other things. There are many factors that influence whether a person can meet the requirements for military service or not," he said.
Speaking to the military at the Pentagon, Hegseth immediately admitted that it was "wrong" to call potential recruits stupid, since the younger generation, in his opinion, was simply "not being trained enough."
In addition, Hegseth noted the work of the units of the US Armed Forces (AF), which is being conducted to search for military personnel. He said that the staff of the departments still manage to find excellent candidates for American soldiers and sign contracts with them in record numbers.
CNN learned on September 15 that the US military does not know how to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in combat, as they lack the skills to use them. The article explained that the discovered problem is serious due to the fact that in the event of a potential conflict, drones will be used first.
