Pskov will become a full-fledged Christmas city in 2027. This statement was made by the head of the region Mikhail Vedernikov during the budget address at the session of the regional Assembly of deputies on Thursday, December 18.

"This is our new project that we have developed, for which we have received money from the federal budget, and which will be implemented within three years," the governor said, as quoted by the Pskov News Feed.

We are talking about the "Christmas begins here" program, which Vedernikov announced at the end of 2024. The whole next year was devoted to making the regional center a real Christmas capital.

So, in the period from 2025 to 2027, more than 100 million rubles were allocated for the transformation of the city for the holidays. Of these, 76.5 million will be federal money, 10 million each will be allocated from the treasury of the city administration and the regional government, and another 9.1 million will be extra—budgetary funds.

The governor also noted that the Pskov city center has already significantly transformed by the New Year. New decorations, installations, elegant Christmas trees and nativity scenes appeared on the streets. He added that the work on beautifying the city continues.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russian-style Christmas trees have become the most important trend of the season. Instead of traditional toys and tinsel, trees are decorated with sweets and garlands of dried fruits tied with ribbons.
