Skolkovo has been named a center of attraction for small technology companies
With balanced access to infrastructure, expertise, and markets, Skolkovo has become a center of attraction for technology companies, especially small ones. This was stated by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Skolkovo Foundation.
"This year Skolkovo celebrates its 15th anniversary. When we first conceived this project, we didn't have any ready-made templates. A lot of things were created from scratch, from ideas and approaches to infrastructure and team. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the development of the project. The Head of State noted the contribution of some employees of Skolkovo and Skoltech with awards and incentives," Medvedev said during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Skolkovo Foundation.
The Federal Register of Small Technology Companies (MTK) consists of more than half of the firms that have passed the fund's expertise and now there are more than 3,000 of them, the participants of the meeting recalled. Compared to last year, the number of project participants increased to 5.5 thousand companies, an increase of 16%. The network of regional operators and representatives has expanded, and new jobs are being created. The total revenue of the participants for 2025 should exceed the planned figure of 850 billion rubles.
As the participants of the meeting noted during the discussion, thanks to this, Skolkovo can actively participate in solving the tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation to achieve technological leadership. Following the meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the development strategy of the Foundation and Skoltech until 2030. Skolkovo will support the growth of technology leaders, primarily through the selection of participants in technological cooperation. The work will focus on 5 strategic goals: "Technical Leaders", "MTK", "Research and Development", "Personnel and competencies", "Infrastructure".
The strategy is synchronized with the objectives and indicators of the VEB.RF Group. The Fund's role in the system of development institutions is the formation of technological leaders and the development of infrastructure using the group's resources.
"Technological leadership is a key focus of the joint work of development institutions. For us, Skolkovo and Skoltech are the centers of competence on this agenda. We plan to actively continue working together, including by growing new companies based on Skolkovo startups that are leaders in their fields," the head of VEB noted in his speech.Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Skolkovo Foundation Igor Shuvalov.
Its own lines of development for new generations of products, which are a hallmark of technological leadership, will be formed both on the basis of Skoltech's capabilities and through the creation of specialized research centers of industrial partners, the meeting noted.
"The adoption of the strategy will increase Skolkovo's contribution to achieving the national goal of Technological leadership. On the horizon until 2030, we aim to form and support at least 20 projects of promising technology leaders. Their growth is planned to be ensured through the coordination tools of the development institutions of the VEB group.Russian Federation and specialized services. For these tasks, we are already actively developing the infrastructure on the territory of the Skolkovo Innovation Center together with the Moscow Government, building models of interaction between manufacturers, developers, investors, educational and infrastructure organizations, state corporations, federal and regional authorities," summed up Sergey Perov, Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation.
