A man who allegedly took part in recruiting girls to work in fraudulent call centers in Myanmar has claimed that he himself was enslaved. He told Izvestia about this.

"I was held in Myanmar, I was enslaved, I just got free. <...> The migration service detained me and sent me home," said Rustam M.

A source from Izvestia reported that the man was detained at Bangkok airport. According to the source, he previously lived in the Moscow region.

On the same day, it was reported that three Russians were abducted in Myanmar, presumably for forced labor in fraudulent call centers. The Russian Embassy is actively working with local authorities to promptly investigate the incidents and provide assistance to the injured Russian citizens.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that diplomats are doing everything possible and necessary to return the abducted Russians from Myanmar. According to her, Russian diplomats have already managed, in cooperation with Myanmar's law enforcement agencies, to rescue one Russian citizen from such a center and return home.

Vice-President of the Unified Coordination Center for the Support of Compatriots Abroad (ECCC) On December 15, Ivan Melnikov reported the abduction of a Russian model in Myanmar. It was clarified that the girl was enslaved by local residents.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
