- Basketball player Timma's father will hold tournaments in Latvia in memory of his son.
In the summer of 2026, basketball tournaments will be held in the Latvian cities of Riga and Kraslava in memory of the deceased Latvian basketball player Janis Timm. The father of basketball player Raitis Timma told Izvestia about this on December 17.
"We are thinking of resuming the tournaments in Kraslava, which were once organized together with Janis, and in order to preserve the tradition, we will hold the tournament in Riga next summer," he said.
According to Yanis' father, the basketball player's ex-wife, singer Anna Sedokova, has never contacted his family after his death, and he does not know if she has lawyers or if she needs them in general.
The body of the 32-year-old basketball player was found in Moscow on December 17, 2024, and the investigation revealed that he had committed suicide. A week before the tragedy, Timma and Sedokova officially divorced. Before he died, he left a note asking him to contact his ex-wife. The basketball player's body was taken to Latvia for burial on December 25. The farewell ceremony took place in Riga on December 27.
On January 15, the forensic examination in Latvia allowed a criminal version of the death of Janis Timma. However, on January 27, it was reported that, according to the results of the investigation, the suicide of the basketball player was established. Investigators could not confirm other versions of death.
