Holiday vacations, like vacations, require responsible planning, especially for people who spend them alone. Clinical psychologist and integrative medicine doctor Ekaterina Makarova told Izvestia on December 19 that the absence of company may not be a reason for longing, but an opportunity for conscious and intense leisure, if approached strategically.

The expert notes that those who are lonely but do not intend to sink into despondency should abandon the model of passive "savoring" their condition. Instead, it makes sense to think about the causes of loneliness and make a specific action plan to change the situation. However, the holiday period itself can be organized in such a way that it brings positive emotions and recovery.

"The first step is to make a social schedule: you need to outline who you would like to visit or invite to your place, having discussed the time in advance and prepared gifts. It is important to distribute household chores and activities so that there is time for rest and recuperation between events. It is necessary to include planned cultural events in the schedule — watching a specific film or visiting an exhibition," advised Makarova.

The psychologist pays special attention to New Year's Eve planning. Even if a person feels lonely, they have options: join friends or relatives, go to a restaurant or hotel where there is a festive atmosphere without the obligation of deep communication, or even organize an outdoor activity, such as a ski trip with a campfire. The main thing is to have a clear and inspiring vision.

An important condition for maintaining health and quickly returning to a working rhythm after the holidays, the expert calls compliance with the regime, in particular, a good night's sleep. The only exception may be New Year's Eve. In general, according to Makarova, the ability to plan your leisure time and communication is directly related to the ability to build your life as a whole. Mastering this skill allows you to stop perceiving loneliness as a threat and turn it into a resource for meaningful and enjoyable organization of time.

On December 12, Yulia Malevannaya, General Director of the Autonomous Research Institute of Functional Nutrition, spoke about the preparation of the body for the New Year's feast. She recommended starting taking hepatoprotectors based on essential phospholipids, which help the liver cope with alcohol and food stress, one to two weeks before the New Year. According to the expert, phospholipids act as "building blocks" for the repair of liver cells, which experience maximum stress during the holidays.
