Zakharova commented on Lukashenko's advice to Ukraine about the "sleeping bear"
Once next to a "sleeping bear", a person should ask himself how he got there in the first place. Thus, on December 17, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the advice of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to Ukraine "not to wake the sleeping bear."
"I would like to expand on this quote and ask a question, don't you want to ask yourself why you are sleeping next to a bear? How did you get there?" Zakharova said on Sputnik radio, RIA Novosti reports.
She also stressed that Russia and the European Union (EU) had the opportunity to set ambitious goals instead of passive coexistence, and added that Western countries had abandoned this on their own.
The day before, Lukashenko called on Ukraine to establish contact with Russia, with which it is neighboring, and "not to wake the sleeping bear." The Belarusian leader added that if Ukraine wanted to pursue a certain language policy, it should have done so gradually, "step by step," and not just "shut up" its Russian-speaking population.
Earlier, Zakharova pointed to an accurate comparison from Italian Infrastructure Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini of EU leaders with Hitler and Napoleon. In her Telegram channel, she drew attention to Salvini's words, who noted that it was unlikely that the head of the EU diplomatic service, Kaya Callas, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz would be able to succeed in trying to subdue Moscow if Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte failed.
