- The Russian Armed Forces destroyed two artillery installations "Gvozdika" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sumy region
The operators of the troops of the unmanned systems (UAVS) of the Sever group destroyed two self-propelled artillery installations (ACS) "Gvozdika" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Sumy region. This was announced on December 17 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Aerial reconnaissance detected the targets as they moved towards the combat positions. After receiving the intelligence, the calculations raised FPV drones on fiber-optic control, each of which was equipped with a cumulative warhead.
The crew of the first destroyed Gvozdika disappeared into the woods, abandoning their weapons. The remaining Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters also tried to hide in a wooded area, but the experience of Russian operators allowed them to conduct an FPV drone through dense vegetation and hit the target.
The Russian Ministry of Defense added that the destruction of self-propelled guns and crews of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not allow them to ensure a well-coordinated defense, due to which the military personnel of the North group of forces continue to expand the security zone.
On December 16, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that units of the Vostok group of forces were conducting active assault operations in the Zaporozhye region near Gulyai-Pole, advancing by suppressing enemy firing points. A soldier with the call sign Jaeger said that Gulyai-Pole would soon be taken, even despite the currently unclean airspace in that area.
