The Malaysian Embassy reported a steady increase in the tourist flow from Russia.
In the first nine months of 2025, more than 100,000 Russian tourists visited Malaysia. This was stated by the country's ambassador, Dato' Lung Chai Chong, the Izvestia correspondent reports.
"Based on these positive trends, we are confident that this year this figure will surpass last year's excellent figures of 130,000 people," said Dato' Lung Chai Chong.
Malaysia is more than just beautiful beaches for Russian tourists today, the country's ambassador believes.
"Russians are becoming researchers as we see more and more Russian travelers showing interest in our culture," he added.
Earlier, on October 27, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, in an interview with Izvestia, said that the Russian side hoped to launch direct flights to Malaysia in the near future.
On October 7, it was reported that Russia would soon cancel the visa regime with three countries, including China, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. It is specified that the simplification of the visa regime with a number of countries has allowed to attract an additional 2 million foreign tourists.
