The study showed a change in user habits when discharging a smartphone.
For a young audience, the digital environment has actually become the main space for receiving news, communicating, and solving everyday tasks. Against this background, the smartphone is increasingly perceived as a critically important tool, the loss of access to which causes noticeable discomfort. This is stated in a study by the federal charger rental service PowerApp, which was reviewed by Izvestia on December 17.
According to the analysis, in 2025, the number of calls to charging stations increased by 38% year on year. At the same time, the main driver was not emergency cases of full discharge, but preventive scenarios.
"More than 60% of rents are made when the charge level is above 30%, and every third — even before falling below 40%. This indicates a new pattern: users increasingly prefer to hedge their bets without waiting for a critical discharge," the study says.
In addition, over half of the respondents — 57% — admitted that they begin to experience anxiety already when the charge drops below 40%, even if the smartphone continues to work stably. In addition to anxiety, survey participants noted irritation, a sense of loss of control, and social anxiety associated with the fear of missing an important call or message.
The 29% increase in service reuse indicates that renting chargers is no longer a one-time emergency measure and is gradually becoming part of everyday behavior in an urban environment.
Gadget expert Ilya Korneychuk warned on October 14 that an overheated phone could ignite during charging. In addition, if the smartphone is very hot, for example, lying in the heat on the front panel in the car, you should not charge it in this state.
