A math teacher who was attacked with a knife by a ninth-grader in the Krasnogvardeysky district of St. Petersburg has undergone surgery and is in intensive care. Her husband Alexey told Izvestia about this on December 15.

"The doctor said that she underwent surgery, she is in stable condition, connected to a ventilator," the man said.

He added that the 29-year-old teacher had a great relationship with the class, and the students were happy to spend time with her. The girl regularly shared with her husband the successes of her students and devoted herself entirely to her favorite work.

"She has two higher educations. A school with a red diploma, an aerospace [university] with a red diploma. We moved to St. Petersburg so that she could enroll in a master's degree, and she also graduated with a red diploma," Alexey shared.

According to him, the girl worked as a tutor for a long time, and then came to school and realized that working with children was her vocation.

The man noted that the child who attacked his wife was not in her class — presumably, she had been working with the ninth-grader for only four months.

The incident occurred on the morning of December 15 at a school on Belorusskaya Street. It was noted that the student stabbed the teacher at least three times, after which he tried to commit suicide, but this was prevented by police officers. The investigators opened a criminal case under Part 3 of art. 30, part 1 of art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder").
