Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko took part in the annual charity event "Wish Tree". The press service of the Federation Council informed Izvestia about this on December 15.
"The Christmas Tree of Wishes campaign is becoming more widespread every year, and more and more citizens are joining this wonderful event. <> This action has become nationwide," she said.
Speaking as a representative from St. Petersburg, Matvienko removed four balloons from the Christmas tree with the wishes of children from the city. She will fulfill the dream of six-year-old Vasilisa to visit the circus on Fontanka, give hockey skates to six-year-old Georgy, organize a visit to the New Year's show for a large family and give headphones to nine-year-old Rodion and thirteen-year-old Arseny. According to her, thanks to such initiatives, society adheres to traditional values, showing kindness, responsiveness and compassion.
The action was also attended by First Deputy Chairmen of the Federation Council Vladimir Yakushev and Andrei Yatskin, Deputy Chairmen of the Federation Council Yuri Vorobyov, Nikolai Zhuravlev, Konstantin Kosachev and Inna Svyatenko, who also took off other balloons with wishes of children from all over the country. Over the years of the project, according to the press service, the dreams of about 320 thousand children have come true.
On December 4, the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia, Sergei Kiriyenko, chose three postcards with children's New Year's wishes at the We Are Together forum at the Rossiya National Center, which he will fulfill. So, the first child, nine-year-old Arsen from the village of Bayrak in the Republic of Bashkortostan, dreams of a scooter. The second participant of the action, 12-year-old Daria from the Zaporizhia region, wished for boxing gloves. The last postcard was from nine-year-old Diana from Veliky Novgorod, who dreams of visiting an animation studio.
On December 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the "Wish Tree" campaign at the international forum "We are Together". So, according to tradition, the Russian leader chose three postcard balls with children's New Year's wishes, which he has to fulfill.
