- The Guardian reported an incident between a JetBlue flight and a U.S. Air Force plane.
A JetBlue airliner en route from the Caribbean state of Curacao was forced to abort its climb to avoid a collision with a tanker aircraft of the United States Air Force. This was reported on December 14 by The Guardian newspaper.
"We almost collided in the air. They flew right through our trajectory... They didn't have the transponder turned on, it's outrageous," said the pilot of the JetBlue flight.
The incident occurred with Flight 1112 en route to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport, off the coast of Venezuela. According to the pilot, the US Air Force plane was at the same altitude and flew about 5 km from the airliner, after which it headed into Venezuelan airspace.
It is noted that this incident occurred against the background of increased operations by the US military in the Caribbean to combat drug trafficking and increased pressure on the Venezuelan government. The pilot noted that he had to stop climbing to prevent a dangerous approach.
Earlier, on December 14, it was reported that in Mannheim, Germany, three people were injured during an emergency landing by a single-engine aircraft on a busy street during the day. It was clarified that the 23-year-old pilot, his 23-year-old partner and a 37-year-old man were on board.
