Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky began to actively discuss the presidential elections in his country under pressure from Washington. This opinion was expressed on December 14 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

"He also started talking about the elections under pressure from his American colleagues. Some kind of double bottom. He's talking about the elections, but he's thinking of using it to achieve the truce he and the Europeans want," Ushakov told journalist Pavel Zarubin.

He noted that this position will have no effect, as it means that the fighting can only stop for a while, and then they will resume again.

Zelensky announced on December 14 that he was not holding on to his seat. This is how he reacted to comments from the American leader Donald Trump that Ukraine needs to hold presidential elections.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted on December 11 that Zelensky longs to remain in power, but he has no chance of being legally re-elected. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the idea of financial support for Kiev by Western countries for holding elections unprecedented.
