The final of the Battle of Robots championship was held in Moscow
The final of the international championship "Battle of Robots" has come to an end in Moscow, where homemade combat vehicles, created not in factories, but in workshops and garages, came together in the arena. The matches were attended by teams from 10 regions of Russia, as well as representatives of China, Iran, Brazil, Tunisia and India.
The final battles were accompanied by spectacular clashes, punches and coups.
"The atmosphere is very reminiscent of a martial arts evening. Thousands of spectators have gathered around the ring and are watching the confrontation between the two opponents. Only instead of a ring, there is an arena, closed from the audience by powerful screens. And inside there are not professional boxers, but real robots," said Izvestia correspondent Linar Ginatullin.
The competitions were held in two weight categories — up to 1.5 and up to 110 kg, and the fights lasted three minutes each.
"This is not just a competition for robots or technology. These are brain contests, brain contests," said Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The best teams from 10 regions of the country and guests from China, Iran, Brazil, Tunisia and India compete in the championship.
"Now I can say with confidence that we have fallen in love with the Russians.: They turned out to be kind, very friendly and helpful," said Anjana, a participant from India.
In one of the key confrontations, the teams of Moscow and St. Petersburg came together - the robot "Mad Cheese" and last year's champion "Daddy".
"Throwing dust in the eyes is also a trick. Like "Daddy." Well, what can daddy do wrong?" said participant Artem Yumashev.
The tournament also featured media connections with famous personalities.
"Today we are participating in a media connection, blogging. Our robot will be controlled by some famous person," said Stanislav Malevanik, a participant in the competition.
The battles of the mini-robots attracted special attention.
"There is no definite strategy, because each robot is good in its own way," said Daniil Serov, a member of the 2FM team.
As a result, it was the 2FM team from Fryazino with the Ping Pong robot that became the 2025 champion in this category.
In the heavyweight category, the Omnivorous team from St. Petersburg won, beating the Brazilian Uai!rrior.
"We lost to them in the semifinals last time, I'm glad we were able to take revenge. It was an unclosed gestalt, we closed it," said team member Viktor Yakovlev.
There were 6 million rubles at stake: 3 million for victory, 2 million for silver, 1 million for third place, and in the battle of the mini—robots, prizes ranged from 100 to 300 thousand rubles.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on December 12 that about 25 companies are engaged in the development and production of robots in Moscow. He noted that Moscow companies produce robots employed in industry, agriculture, warehouse and rescue operations, and other jobs, the mayor said. Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone (SEZ) plays an important role in the development of the robotics industry.
