A massive accident involving more than 20 cars occurred on the highway R-208 "Tambov — Penza" in the Penza region. This was announced on December 13 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"During the monitoring of social networks, it was established that [in the area of the 271st km on the Tambov-Penza road section] a massive accident involving more than 20 vehicles was recorded," the department's Telegram channel reported.

In connection with the incident, the regional prosecutor's office began checking the contents of this section of the road. The Prosecutor's Office will examine compliance with the requirements for winter road maintenance, the quality of coating with anti-icing materials and compliance of the highway condition with regulations.

It is noted that following the investigation, measures will be taken to eliminate violations and prevent such incidents. Emergency services are working at the scene of the accident.
