The Ukrainian ruling Servant of the People party is planning to hold a congress on December 17 to re-elect its leader. This was reported on December 12 by RBC-Ukraine, citing sources in the party.

The Servant of the People party will hold a congress on December 17, at which a new party chairman is expected to be elected," the publication says.

It is noted that the term of office of the current head of the party, Elena Shulyak, ends on December 14, so the party decided to hold a congress to elect a new leader.

This information was later confirmed on the Telegram channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation). He claims that Alexander Kornienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, will become the new head of the party.

"The congress of the Servant of the People party will be held on December 17. The current head of the party, Olena Shulyak, has held this position for two terms already," he wrote.

The Times newspaper reported on November 30 about the intention of more than four deputies of the party of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to leave the parliamentary faction. It was noted that the Ukrainian media also discussed the possible resignation of representatives of the Servant of the People party or their desire to take up the post of an independent deputy.
