The case of the ex-mayor of Sochi Kopaigorodsky will be considered in Moscow

The case against former Sochi mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky, his wife Yanina and assistant Alexander Pasunko will be considered in the Meshchansky Court of the capital, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has determined such jurisdiction. This was reported to Izvestia on December 12 by the court's press service.

According to the investigation, from 2022 to 2024, Kopaygorodsky stole two plots of land in Sochi with a total value of at least 26 million rubles. He is also accused of receiving 248 million rubles from business representatives for patronage and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.

The ex-mayor's wife is accused of aiding and abetting witnesses. According to investigators, she transferred 500,000 rubles to one of the witnesses in order to persuade him to give false testimony. She is also charged with forcing another witness under threat of harm to health.

At the same time, the Khostinsky District Court of Sochi continues to consider an anti-corruption lawsuit against Kopaigorodsky and related persons.
