On Friday and next weekend, December 12-14, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to preventing drunk driving. The regional departments of the department reported on the upcoming raids.
Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads of the Kirov, Lipetsk, Penza, Smolensk, Samara, Kherson, Ulyanovsk regions and other regions of the country.
"Driving while intoxicated is unacceptable. A drunk driver puts not only himself, but also his passengers and other road users in danger. We kindly ask the eyewitnesses of inappropriate behavior of drivers on the road and those who notice that a drunk person is driving a car to show an active civic position and report what they saw to the police — this can save someone's life," said the deputy head of the Department of road safety promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries. The necessary response measures will be taken for all relevant reports, he noted.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts.
Earlier, on December 5, the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate denied information about the allegedly planned introduction of regulations aimed at limiting the registration of vehicles with extended service life. The ministry noted that the issue of amendments to the legislation in the field of registration regarding restrictions for vehicles with extended service life is not being considered by the State Traffic Inspectorate.
